The Regent 1609 AD is the first Backes & Strauss limited edition timepiece. The name of the luxury watch pays tribute to English astronomer Thomas Harriett who made the first drawings of the moon, before Galileo.

The Backes & Strauss 1609 AD watch showcases an original and luxurious moon phase indicator, which presents a representation of a 17-star constellation, depicted in round brilliant diamonds.

Produced in collaboration with Geneva’s Franck Muller Watchland, which manufactures the movements and completes assembly, Backes & Strauss watches sparkle with diamonds set in 18k gold cases shaped to accentuate the multifaceted gems’ play of light.

Established in 1789, Backes & Strauss is famed for being the world’s oldest diamond company and every Backes & Strauss watch has at least one diamond, set by hand into the crown.

The Regent 1609 AD is currently on display in the Harrods Fine Jewellery in London until it is officially launched in October 2008. The model will be limited to 219 pieces (in two sizes) and available in different diamond combinations, from £17,000 ($34,000).

Harrods is set to launch a range of £5000 ($10,000) Swarovski-studded chocolates, with exclusively designed packaging by Lebanese chocolatier, Patchi.

The super-premium packaging, in which the 49 chocolates are hand-wrapped in Indian silk and placed on suede leather partitioned with gold and platinum, was created by Patchi’s in-house design team.

Each and every chocolate is adorned with gold and Swarovski crystal and silk rose. These are then placed in a stunning box made of genuine leather and magnificent hand woven silk from India and China.

Yesterday it was revealed that this gold-plated pram, which boasts a fitted sound system and satin interior, has been snapped up after just two weeks on sale at Harrods for a staggering £6,000.

Described as “the ultimate in “baby bling”, the converted Silver Cross Silver Shadow is dripping in £4,000-worth of 24-carat gold, which covers every panel as well as its wheels and spokes.

Its leather hood is trimmed in super-soft ermine fur, it has a blue satin lining – and its base even conceals a clockwork music box which plays soothing nursery rhymes.

Luxury bed maker, Vi-Spring, has introduced bamboo fibre into its top of the range bed, the Monarch. Known in the textiles industry for its soft and silk-like qualities bamboo fibre is wonderfully indulgent, but is also one of the most environmentally friendly materials available. Bamboo fibre has been woven into an exclusive fabric design for the Monarch mattress ticking, as well as blended for the mattress filling with other luxury materials, such as cashmere, lambswool and mohair.

Extracted directly from the bamboo cane the production of bamboo fibre involves no chemical processing but is simply steamed or boiled instead.

The Monarch retails at £24,275 ( $50,000) for a six-foot (182 cm) double divan set and is available exclusively at Harrods.

Famous UK department store Harrods has launched a luxury Pot Noodle – the Posh Noodle sells for £29.95 with all the proceeds going to charity. To add to the exclusivity, only a limited quantity of 100 are made.

The vegetarian-friendly posh noodle comes in a hand-flocked and gold-leafed pot. It also comes with a fork and table linen.
