Rock Royalty, a new Nashville-based luxury design house that manufactures one-of-a-kind, custom guitars, is offering the ultimate in rock star decadence: an $85,000 custom alligator skin, diamond and sterling silver Fender Telecaster.

This Blackbird Rider Carbon Fiber Travel Guitar is the brainchild of Joe Luttwak, a designer who spent some time working for Ferrari in Maranello.

Based on Blackbird Guitars’ high-performance Rider travel guitar, it is the first instrument fit for the Ferrari namesake.

The Ferrari version of the carbon fiber guitar sports a red A string, a Maranello Red interior, and is finished off with a Scuderia emblem on the head.

If you’re on the lookout for a signature Chanel piece from the Spring 2009 collection, the black guitar is certainly it.

Debuted at the Paris Spring 2009 Fashion Week, the guitar is a black instrument, with Chanel discretely spelled out across the front.

The strap is elegantly striped in brown white and black with intertwining C’s in leather where the strap attaches. The most elegant piece of all is the guitar’s case (below), in Chanel’s signature quilt pattern and in stylish white.

The sexy black nylon string acoustic retails for a mere £2,800.

The other day we told you about Karl Lagerfeld’s bespoke trunk from Louis Vuitton. In the same vein, we now present Eric Clapton’s ultra-luxurious, custom-made crocodile guitar case from Hermès.

Clapton’s case was specially made to hold his Martin 00028 EC acoustic guitar, the rock star’s signature model (“EC” are his initials) which he helped to design.

The $250,000 bass guitar, The Ritter Royal Flora Aurum, was built by Jens Ritter, a luthier, or stringed instrument maker, from Germany.

This luxurious bass has a body carved from a rare, solid piece of maple while the nut is carved from 10,000-year-old mammoth ivory.

The fingerboard is decorated with a floral inlay pattern made of 24-karat gold. There’s even a black diamond set in platinum decorating each leaf.

A guitar Jimi Hendrix burnt on stage will be sold by rock and film memorabilia auctioneers The Fame Bureau at the Idea Generation Gallery in Shoreditch, London, on September 4.

The 1965 Fender Stratocaster, which he doused in lighter fluid and then set on fire at the Astoria in London in March 1967, is anticipated to fetch around £500,000 ($1million).

At the end of his show Hendrix set fire to the base of his Fender Stratocaster – as the astonished audience looked on and petrified venue staff ushered the performer off. Hendrix injured himself and had to be taken to hospital with minor burns on his hands.

Hendrix did his burning guitar stunt twice during his career. The one up for auction is the only one still in existence.
