Fresh from his win in the Grand Prix de Genève 2007 for his Observatoire wristwatch, Kari Voutilainen’s new creation at this year’s Baselworld represents a marked deviation from his collection of decimal repeaters with circular watch cases.
The Chronometer 27, thus named because of the Caliber 27 it houses, is Voutilainen’s second offering of an observatory watch. These watches were traditionally created for use in timing trials, because of their exceptional accuracy, and were not commercially available to the public.
In the Chronometer 27, hours, minutes, and seconds are displayed on separate sub-dials that intersect, making full use of the elongated space of the case. Like the Observatoire, Voutilainen has chosen to use a Breguet/Grossmann combination for the balance spring.

Ferrari recently launched a new “One-to-One Personalisation Program” at the Geneva Motor Show.
The program allows buyers to fully customize their car by choosing details and materials they want in consultation with the Italian carmaker’s experts.
The personalization program is inaugurated with the 612 Scaglietti.

Bigger and bolder are the watchwords of the watch industry these days, along with the very real drive to control more and more of the production process.
For Piaget, this is not the whole story , as the brand is trying to have its cake and eat it too.
Over the years, the brand’s expertise in ultra-thin mechanical watches and its investments in its own in-house know-how have been well-documented.

The case, in 18kt rose gold, measures 45mm. It has a sapphire crystal and display back and is water resistant to 30 meters.
Movement is the mechanical hand-wind ETA caliber UNITAS 6498-2 with 17 jewels, beating at 18,000 bph and with a 60 hour power reserve. The bridges have Cotes de Geneva finish, “Movado Factories” is engraved on the barrel bridge, and there is a red Movado “M” on the wheel bridge.
There will be 25 pieces manufactured.
