Baume & Mercier is currently holding a competition via its Facebook page to give its fans a rare chance to attend the prestigious Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Two lucky contestants will be chosen as Baume & Mercier’s “very special reporters” to cover the industry professionals-only SIHH trade show this January.

The Swiss hotel has introduced a new service for watch lovers by employing the services of Pierre Jacques, the head of Swiss watch boutique Les Ambassadeurs, to advise guests interested in Switzerland’s famous horology industry.
The “watch butler” is on hand to display particular timepieces as well as being able to arrange private tours to top-end timepiece manufacturing sites such as Vacheron Constantin, Roger Dubuis and Franck Muller.
A flawless blue diamond weighing 7.03 carats has sold for a record 10.5 million Swiss francs ($9.49 million), the highest price paid per carat for any gemstone at auction, Sotheby’s said.
The rectangular-shaped blue stone, mounted on a platinum ring, is the rarest to enter the international market this year.
The anonymous phone bidder, who won after a 15-minute war, has yet to name the gem.
