The Chanel Fly-fishing Rod

Fly fishing+chanel The Chanel Fly fishing RodFor many years now Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel have been producing some of the world’s most preposterous and overpriced sporting goods.

First there was the Chanel snowboard with trompe l’oeil “quilting”; then $2,5000 Chanel skis. More recently the fashion house has produced a Chanel’s $12,000 bike, a pink Chanel tennis racket complete with tennis balls and a Chanel boomerang.

And now, here is the luxurious fly-fishing rod from the latest Chanel sports collection, priced at just under $20,000. It seems to be a Karl Lagerfeld’s personal tribute to Coco Chanel and her love of the relaxing sport !

For a mere £9,170 the ponciest angler on the planet can kit himself out with a Chanel rod and a set of meticulously tied, monochrome Chanel flies, complete with the famous “double C” logo on the gossamer wings, presented in a rather fetching, quilted black leather box.

Sony HT-IS100 Bravia theatre micro system

Sony bravia Sony HT IS100 Bravia theatre micro systemSony’s HT-IS100 Bravia Theatre Micro System has gotten a US launch where it will be available in July for around $700.

One big box and five “incredibly” small speakers - the system has three 1080p HDMI inputs with repeater functionality and support for eight channels of uncompressed audio. It’s hard to believe, but the satellite speakers are scarcely as big as a strawberry.

The 5.1 channel system, with 450 watts of power, includes a subwoofer with integrated 32-bit S-Master digital amplifier, Sony’s S-AIR technology and the ability to add optional wireless rear surround speakers and multi-room wireless speakers.

The system also features Digital Media Port, Digital Cinema Auto Calibration, BRAVIA Sync, Dialogue Audio Enhancer and Portable Audio Enhancer - all Sony in-house tech that promises amazing performance.

The system claims to sacrifice nothing in the way of sound and everything in the way of cumbersome space-gobbling size.

Montblanc Skeleton 333

Skeleton+mont+blanc Montblanc Skeleton 333The Montblanc Skeleton 333 is a tribute, true to the last detail, to this first-ever skeletonised fountain pen made by Montblanc almost 10 years ago. To celebrate the 75th birthday of the “Meisterstück”, or “Masterpiece”, in 1999, Montblanc’s master craftsmen created the first fountain pen in history to use this delicate technique: the Montblanc Meisterstück 149, which caused a sensation all around the world.

Skeleton+montblanc Montblanc Skeleton 333The highly sophisticated art of skeletonising, a precise craft by which parts of the barrel of a writing instrument are exposed, transforms it into a transparent work of art.

The transparent, platinum-plated barrel artistically reveals the delicate workings of this much sought-after collectors’ item down to the last detail.
The cap is decorated by a Montblanc star in shimmering mother-of-pearl, and the rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib captures the eye with its delicate hand engravings.
