
After a tumultuous few years, Regent Hotels and Resorts is looking to return to its roots, the company has announced, opening more properties in Asia.
The brand was the first to introduce concepts such as the five-fixture bathroom, hotel shopping malls and villa resorts which have now become standard in luxury hotels.
The brand is now looking to revive its glory days since being purchased by Formosa International Hotels from Carlson, which owns Radisson and Park Plaza.

Condé Nast Traveler magazine has revealed the results of its Fourteenth Readers’ Choice Survey, pinpointing the best golf resorts in the world.
The US magazine’s readers chose the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea at the best golf resort of all 80 contenders, with a winning average of 96 percent.
Scores were calculated on the basis of thousands of readers’ votes for course design and access, golf staff and services, rooms, service, food/dining, location and overall design.
Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort (pictured below) in South Carolina took second place, followed by the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Hawaii.


Michelin has added a cheap restaurant category to its new Hong Kong and Macau guide unveiled Thursday, after critics accused the culinary bible of ignoring the cities’ food-stall culture.
Twenty-nine “simple shop” restaurants received star ratings in the guide’s second edition, with its highest three-star rating awarded to a pair of French restaurants and one Chinese in Hong Kong and another in nearby Macau.


The Wealth Bulletin has compiled a new list of the World’s Top Ten Most Expensive Hotel Rooms.
Despite the past year’s financial and economic turmoil, prices at the best hotel suites have risen by an average of 10% this year.
The winner is the Royal Penthouse Suite at the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva Switzerland which charges a whopping $65,000 a night.


Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has been named the top luxury hotel in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study.
The Four Seasons bumped The Ritz-Carlton hotel group which has held first place on the list for the past two years.
And Four Seasons customers don’t even mind paying more according to Michael Drago, director of the global hospitality and travel practice at J.D. Power.
