Minogue sisters set to auction Mercedes

Kylie Minogue’s car, which was given to her by her sister Dannii, is to be sold by British auction house Bonhams next month.

The black 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK230 will be sold as part of the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed sale on July 2.

“We are delighted to have been appointed by the Minogue family to offer the Mercedes-Benz,” said James Knight, head of Bonhams Motoring Department.

Warren Buffett auctioning off another lunch

As happens every year, lunch with Warren Buffett is being auctioned off on eBay with the proceeds going to charity.

Last year Salida Capital Corp, a Toronto-based wealth management firm, won the right to dine with the world’s third-richest person with a $1,680,300 bid.

That was below the record $2,110,100 bid in 2008 by Hong Kong-based investor Zhao Danyang.

Tonight, Sotheby’s, in conjunction with Bombay Sapphire will hold a charity auction to raise funds for cancer research, at the Palazzo Colonna in Rome.

Sotheby’s and Bombay Sapphire’s charity auction will feature 19 exclusive martini glasses, created by the world’s most innovative designers.

The main attraction of the auction is the tall “Chalice” cocktail glass studded with 226 blue sapphires created by renowned Australian designer Peter Crisp.

Ryanair passenger “eats” €10000 scratchcard

A Ryanair passenger who became enraged when he was told he could not claim a scratchcard prize on his flight ate his winning ticket.

The man was flying from Poland to the East Midlands on a Ryanair flight when he won 10,000 euros on a scratchcard he had purchased on board.

Ryanair confirmed he ate his ticket on 26 February after cabin staff refused to pay him the winnings immediately.

Russian billionaire to give $2 billion to charity

Businessweek reports that Russian billionaire Vladimir Potanin plans to leave almost all of his $2.1 billion fortune to charity within the next decade.

The billionaire says he won’t deprive his three children of material support and will appropriate money for their plans, as well as for unforeseen circumstances.

An article in The Financial Times says that Potanin was inspired by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett and has a long history of philanthropy.
