
Queen Elizabeth II has become the highest-ranking dignitary to be photographed in 3D glasses.
She wore the 3D glasses for a demonstration of film technology during a visit to studios in Toronto, Canada.
The Queen brought her own customised set with Swarovski crystals forming the letter Q on the sides.
The 84-yearl old Queen got to witness a scene being filmed in 3D, and then immediately watched it played back on a big projection screen.


The world’s largest gold coin, a Maple Leaf, sold for 3.27 million euros ($4.02 million) at the Dorotheum auction house on Friday in Vienna.
The coin – measuring 53 centimetres in diameter and weighing 100 kilograms – was bought by Spanish precious metals firm Oro Direct.
The Maple Leaf coin, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and carries a face value of one million Canadian dollars, was minted in 2007.


For a limited time, Québec plays host to North America’s only hotel made of ice. The Hotel only opens for four months a year, so guests need to be quick.
Open until April 4, it is created from 15,000 tons of snow and 500 tons of ice.
The 36-room ice complex features a 7.6 meter high igloo at the center, which will host exhibitions commemorating the tenth season of the hotel.

Christie’s is offering a rare, 100-million-year-old petrified shell of an extinct Canadian marine creature.
This fossilized ammonite is expected to fetch $70,000 at an auction next week in France.
The fossil has naturally occurring iridescent colors created when the original shell substance turned into a mineral called aragonite.

A Quebec City man with a love of hockey and history claims to have a hockey stick that dates back to the mid-17th century.
However, historians suspect the one-metre long stick was simply crafted out of a very old piece of birch wood.
Bobby Rouillard, who lives in the suburb of Boischatel, will be showing off the stick at a pond hockey tournament this weekend. Then, he says, he will put it on eBay at a starting price of $1 million.
