A new cabin concept called Phoenix, featuring a colour-scheme and layout designed to appeal to Asian tastes, is being offered to Airbus Corporate Jet customers.

The main cabin features seating for six people around a large circular-table – the focus of family life in many Asian cultures – which facilitates work-related discussions and dining.

Airbus Corporate Jets are able to offer this feature because they have the widest and tallest cabin of any business jet, existing or planned.

Korean Air is to introduce a new two-story A380 aircraft that features only Business Class seats on the second floor in May.

The 407-seat aircraft, built in partnership with Airbus, will be composed of 12 First Class, 94 Business Class and 301 Economy Class seats.

Korean Air says this deck will have 94 lie-flat sleeper seats, with 74in pitch. This will give business passengers a sense of “exclusivity”

French President Nicolas Sarkozy ‘s dream of having a presidential jet to rival Air Force One of the United States is about to come true.

“Air Sarko One,” a $241-million Airbus A330-200, has made its first test flight in Bordeaux, southwestern France.

Although not quite as big as the Boeing 747-200 that is Air Force One, the French A330-200 will be at least ten metres longer and two metres higher that the aircraft used by other European leaders.

Airbus has given a glimpse of the future of flight with its Concept Plane, which was showcased at the Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire today.

The images released today illustrate what air transport could look like in 2050 – even 2030 if advancements in existing technologies continue apace.

The aircraft is more fuel-efficient and features advanced interior systems, long, slim wings, semi-embedded engines, a lightweight body and a U-shaped tail.

Dubai-based Emirates Airline is to fly a total of 90 Airbus A380 “superjumbos” by the end of 2017 after a shock announcement that it is to buy a further 32, the largest single order in commercial aviation history.

The airline stunned its rivals with the $11.5 billion purchase on the first day of the ILA Berlin Air Show, with one aviation leader stating that “one must assume that this is not an investment for the UAE, but it is an investment for the world.”
