A week of historic watches, current models and a special edition Polaris at Ion Orchard, Singapore

Aug 30, 2018 | By Lynette Kee

Between 19th and 29th July, Jaeger-LeCoultre brought its special edition Polaris Geographic WT to Singapore for an exclusive exhibition. The exhibition was a comprehensive walk-through of the history and evolution of the watch, painstakingly put together by the maison for the launch of the retro-inspired Polaris collection. Jaeger-LeCoultre also took the chance to release five new models in the Polaris line-up inspired by the diver’s alarm watch of 1968, each paying direct tribute to the original model.

50 Years of Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox – A Cult Classic

With its new pillar of the brand gaining cult recognition – the Polaris which debut at SIHH this year, Jaeger-Lecoultre need not dig deep for inspiration. The new releases are all fitted with automatic in-house movements, set in sporty yet modern proportions. With prices starting from US$6,600, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection places its focus on practicality and everyday wear, broadening the brand’s entry-level offerings – a more affordable collection that remains close to the original Polaris Memovox.

The star of the show, however, is none other than the special edition Polaris Geographic WT. This special edition offers a world time complication and a meticulous finish. The gradient effect and textured dial sets it apart from the other JLC and the historical model. For this beautiful launch, Singaporean celebrities come together on the official opening to witness the revival of Polaris for the modern era.

To celebrate the rebirth of an icon – as said by JLC – the exhibition lasted 10 days to welcome the public to acquire knowledge on the genesis of the brand.

The Jaeger-Lecoultre Polaris Geographic Worldtime was sold at a 250-limited edition count exclusively at boutiques.
