Max Mara have teamed up with eco-fabrics company Saluzzo Yarns for a new four piece collection priced from $220 to $700 and available in the brand’s stores around the world from January onwards.

“We are very satisfied with this project, which is innovative, responsible, fashionable and proudly Italian,” Max Mara Group fashion director Laura Lusuardi told WWD.

The pieces include a flared trench coat, a collarless jacket, a T-shirt and a pencil skirt. All are constructed in Saluzzo Yarns’ ‘Newlife’ fabric, an antibacterial, UV-resistant and breathable fabric made from recycled fibers sourced from plastic bottles collected in Northern Italy. The entirely mechanical recycling process also saves water and electricity, and reduces carbon emissions.

Aesthetically, it’s standard Max Mara with bold houndstooth patterns in both blown-up and shrunk-down versions. The fashion brand has also installed 11,000 rooftop solar panels to create green electricity for its factories.
