Beauty has long been seen as the little sister to its more seasoned fashion counterpart in the media industry but has found its footing in the past few years. In fact, the cosmetic industry is doing far better than it should in an age of an economic apocalypse, and it is not hard to see why. From makeup to hair, skincare and perfumes, cosmetics are more diverse than one can expect. Definition of beauty is ever-changing, and with every product made to help us look, smell and feel the way we want, it provides endless possibilities for the industry to innovate.

Needless to say, social media and celebrity influence have played a big part in driving beauty trends in the industry. While a whole lot of celebrities are openly beauty aficionados, planting influence through personal preferences or professional endorsements, some went ahead to create their own. In an age where the cosmetic industry is poised for even greater growth, and beauty lovers are extended to a larger demographic which includes unsuspecting male celebrities like Mick Jagger, John Mayer and Zac Effron, it is not surprising that celebrities are starting to focus on beauty as their lifeline.

Celebrities and Their Beauty Line

1. MDNA – Madonna

MDNA Skin is the skincare line developed by Madonna. At 60, the Queen of Pop radiates a smooth complexion with her line-free visage practically speaking for her brand. Her skincare line is a collaboration between herself and MTG, a Japanese beauty company famed for their product innovation and technical expertise. MDNA is already available in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and America but has recently launched in Singapore at Takashimaya Departmental Store.

2. Honest Beauty – Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba first launched her beauty line in 2015 and was named a billion-dollar business mogul by Forbes. After 3 years of continuous success, Alba recently announced that she will be relaunching Honest Beauty. This time, with more streamlined product offerings. From makeup to hair care products, Alba’s new and improved beauty line is readily available on global websites such as Ulta.com.

3. Nuance – Salma Hayek

In her extensive makeup line, Salma Hayek’s beauty line is most famously acknowledged by its hair products. In an interview with Allure magazine in 2015, Hayek pulled out her hairspray to demonstrate its volumising capabilities. Supermodel Taylor Hill even credits the brand’s shampoo for giving the best beach waves. Among many celebrities who came up with their own beauty line, Salma Hayek truly sets herself apart by creating a line of products that stay true to what she loves.
