Cirrus Design Corporation announced that “Cirrus Vision SJ50” will be the new official name for its single-engine personal jet, formerly known as "The-Jet".

The Cirrus Vision made its first flight last week

The name "Cirrus Vision SJ50" represents a natural extension of Cirrus’ vision to build the ultimate personal transportation machine,” said Cirrus CEO, Alan Klapmeier. “With the Cirrus Vision we are providing an entirely new transportation option for personal and business travel. It is a smarter, simpler and more efficient way to travel and holds the unique promise of redefining general aviation.”

Unsurpassed interior space, single engine fuel efficiency, flexible seating option of five plus two, state-of-the-art advanced avionics and flight systems and the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System are each hallmarks of the new design.

The aircraft is technologically advanced, yet designed and engineered to be simple to fly, just like the company’s best-selling SR20 and SR22 piston aircraft.

Cirrus is currently taking $100,000 deposits for the jet.

Key milestones in 2007 included announcements of the first sales of a VIP double-deck Airbus A380, to HRH Prince Alwaleed, who is Chairman of the Kingdom Holding company, and of a VIP A350 XWB to C Jet Ltd of Hong Kong, for use by Chairman Tony Chan.

This largest luxury jet - Airbus A380 belongs to the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, Chelsea FC owner and UK’s richest man. The price tag was around the $300 million, but it has been refitted and customized to his own personal specifications. It includes now three bedrooms, a lounge and dining area, a sauna and exercise bikes.

Cirrus - The Jet

Cirrus Design's The Jet is a next-generation aircraft planned as a transition from the Cirrus SR22.

The jet is not intended to compete with very light jets like the Eclipse 500 and the Cessna Citation Mustang. On June 28, the entire puzzle was completed, and the Cirrus Jet configuration was unveiled.

The Jet will seat seven people. The cockpit will have two seats, and the second row will have two seats as will the third row. There will be a seat that can slide between the second and third row. The Jet will have two doors, and the parachute will be located in the nose.

Mooney Delivers First Acclaim Type S

Mooney Airplane Company has delivered the first Acclaim Type S—the fastest single engine production piston airplane in the world—to an Illinois dentist. The Acclaim Type S was introduced by Mooney in October of 2007.

Priced at $599,500
, it is powered by a Teledyne Continental Motors IO 550-G engine and equipped with dual Kelly Aerospace turbochargers that allow it to maintain sea level manifold pressure all the way to its service ceiling of 25,000 feet. Its top cruise speed of 242 knots is five knots faster than the original Acclaim and results from a series of refinements that have notably increased its performance.

While its maximum speed is attained at FL250, the Acclaim Type S still operates at near turbine speeds at a more common cruising altitude of 16,000 feet, where it can still exceed 220 KTAS. It comes equipped with Garmin’s G1000 integrated avionics suite and GFC 700 autopilot as standard. A TKS anti-icing system is also available, making it the only airplane in its class approved for flight into known icing conditions.

First foreign jet aircraft to be made in Russia

Very light jets are the latest thing in aviation for business travellers, and Russia is about to start building them. The Eclipse 500 is the first foreign jet aircraft to be made in Russia.

Its production will begin next year.
Ulyanovsk, the hometown of Lenin, will soon become home to a new breed of very light business jets. The Dutch investment company Etirc Aviation, the U.S. manufacturer Eclipse Aviation and the Russian Aviastar aircraft complex have laid the foundations for the Eclipse 500 micro-jets assembly plant.

You can buy an Eclipse 500 for just US$ 1.5 million – about the same price as a flat in the centre of Moscow, and a fraction of the cost of traditional business jets. What you get is a very light six-seated jet, able to fly 2000 km.
Designers say this is what the new face of business aviation will look like – prestigious and affordable for Russia’s growing class of millionaires.

The Eclipse will be the first ever foreign aircraft produced in Russia. Starting from 2009, Etirc Aviation has ambitious plans to produce up to 500 jets a year.

Lufthansa plans to offer private business jets

Lufthansa has placed orders for seven executive jets from Cessna, the US business aircraft maker, in its first step towards building its own fleet of of nine corporate jets operating in the region of Europe and Russia.

The German flag carrier is set to be the first European airline to develop its own fleet of business jets.
Private aviation has enjoyed an unprecedented global boom during the past three years, as corporate executives and wealthy individuals have sought to avoid the increasing hassle, inconvenience and delays of flying through congested hub airports and to use business jets to increase executive productivity.

Several other European airlines have considered entering the corporate jet market, including KLM, the Dutch subsidiary of Air France-KLM, which has recently investigated the fledgling market for air taxi jet operations with four-seat very light jets.

The Lufthansa Private Jet service will offer a network of about 1,000 airports in Europe and will be available both for point-to-point services and to connect premium passengers to the group's long-haul network via its hubs at Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.

The private jet users connecting to long-haul flights will have access to the airline's exclusive first class terminals at the hub airports and will also be able to earn frequent flier miles.

Lufthansa will offer four different categories of light, mid-size and large business jets, ranging from four to 12 seats.

Private jet on the market

A popular pastor, Mac Hammond of Living Word Christian Center in Minnesota is having to give up one of his pricey toys, his own private jet.

Hammond is reportedly marketing the Cessna 650 business jet aggressively and plans to reinvest the money in the ministry. The Minnesota Star-Tribune also reports that the Living Word has also cut its hourlong TV show on Sunday mornings in half to save money.

The jet has gotten Hammond in trouble before. Last year, the group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed complaints with the IRS saying that Hammond finagled a $2 million loan deal with Living Word and got money from a lease-back deal on the plane.

Hammond is also the owner of a stunt plane, a 1995 Flugzeugbau EA-300L. He has used the private plane both to minister in other places and to travel to his homes in Florida. The jet has room for nine passengers and is listed at $3.9 million.

$300 million for A380 "Flying Palace"

With 10,000 private jets flying in the U.S., a few billionaires are signing up for something roomier -- jumbo jets that can be outfitted as mobile mansions.

WSJ's Wealth Report highlights on one such client, a Middle Eastern head of state, who shelled out $300 million on the notorious Airbus 380, an aircraft which is running waay behind in its production schedule. The unidentified buyer, will spend an extra $100 million to turn the craft into a more exclusive conveyance which Airbus eloquently calls "The Flying Palace".

But why such opulence? according to New York based "jet-interior designer" Edése Doret; "You can host an elegant dinner party on the ground in a third-world country, after you bid your guests a fond farewell, you close the door and head home."
