Hotel prices in Brazil are some of the fastest growing in the world according to a recent survey. With international events on the horizon such as the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016, room rates are set to rise even further over the next few years. Here is a look at the five most expensive hotel rooms in the country.

The Presidential Suite at the Tivoli Mofarrej in Sao Paulo is the largest suite in Latin America with 750 square meters (8,072 square feet) of space.

The suite has three bedrooms, a Jacuzzi, sauna, lounge, kitchen and fitness room plus a 360-degree view on the capital, all for for $14,684 a night. Guests staying there get 24-hour butler service and a supply of Dom Pérignon Champagne.

The Presidential Suite at the Royal Tulip Brasilia Alvorada, located in the capital of the country, comes in second place. Staying at the 60 square meter (3,875 square feet) Presidential Suite costs from $4,895.

The room includes a large bedroom, dining room for 12 and a marble bathroom. Guests who have stayed there include Prince Charles of England and US President Barack Obama.

The Penthouse Suite at the classic Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro is in third place. The hotel offers seven penthouse suites on the top floor, each one of them with 100 square meters (1,076 square feet) of floor area and private terraces overlooking the beach.

The French décor includes marble bathrooms and a private pool. Guests can enjoy the luxury of the suite for around $2,447 a night. Guests have included the Rolling Stones and Nelson Mandela.

The Fasano Hotel in Sao Paulo is one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. Its deluxe suite has a floor area of 115 square meters (1,237 square feet) and includes a spacious bedroom, living room and dining room with a marble table. The daily price for the suite at the Fassano Sao Paulo is $1,529.

The Emiliano Suite at the Emiliano Hotel in Sao Paulo is available for $1,492 a night for an 84 square meter (around 904 s.f.) room; the décor includes items showcased at the Museum of Modern Art such as the Charles Eames Armchair. Guests planning on arriving at the hotel by helicopter can land at the designated helipad.

With an average rate of $321, Rio de Janeiro sits in fifth place on the list of the 50 most expensive cities for hotel rates, ahead of Tokyo, Paris and New York. Sao Paulo features in 15th place on the list with an average rate of $268 per night.

The most expensive suite in the world is the Royal Penthouse Suite at the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva with an average rate of $65,000 a night, followed by the Presidential Suite at The Raj Palace Hotel, in Jaipur, India costing $45,000 per night.

The Ty Warner Penthouse Suite, at the Four Seasons Hotel, in New York is the third with an average rate of $41,836 per night.
