The release of Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 1991 ushered in a new era of computer-generated imagery in filmography, where live action was seamlessly married with virtual graphics for the most impressive on-screen effects. One of the most memorable scenes was the motorcycle chase, where Arnold Schwarzenegger jumps a 780-pound Harley Davidson Fat Boy off a culvert. It went on to become one of the most iconic action sequences in the history of Hollywood films, making the Harley Davidson motorcycle the most recognized movie bikes of all time.

The legendary Harley Davidson bike, Fat Boy, used in the Terminator 2 will be up for sale at the upcoming “Icons Legends of Hollywood Auction” auction.

Held by auction house Profiles in History, the auction will run from June 5-8, along with other Terminator related memorabilia. The motorcycle is estimated to go for $200,000-$300,000.

Schwarzenegger, a motorcycle enthusiast in his own right, rode this actual bike in the film Terminator 2, giving it legendary provenance. In 2014, the motorcycle was acquired by Harley Davidson and displayed at the company’s museum. The odometer reads just 392 miles, but the motorcycle dose show signs of wear and tear. However, there is no word if the Fat Boy is in running condition or not.

T-800 uses the Fat Boy to rescue John Connor (played by Edward Furlong astride a Honda XR dirtbike) in Terminator 2.

Harley Davidson added the Fat Boy to its line-up just a year ahead of the movie production. The movie’s success and its role in one the greatest chase scenes to its fame as one of the most popular Harley Davidson motorcycles across the world.

Other items that will go under the hammer alongside the Fat Boy bike includes the “punk” jacket from the same movie that Schwarzenegger wore while riding the Harley in the chase sequence. A huge box office hit during its release, Terminator 2 grossed over half a billion dollars just from ticket sales. Its popularity gave the movie franchise a huge boost, spawning numerous sequels and spin-offs on the market.

Be it for Terminator devotees or Harley-Davidson buffs, this auction will certainly be an anticipated one.
