The new Limited Edition Aventador SVJ 63 is in the fore while the 900 model Limited Edition Aventador SVJ lays in the background

Unveiled at Monterey Car Week in California, the naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is the distillation of signature Automobili Lamborghini design codes and the pinnacle of automotive engineering technologies. SV stands for Superveloce
– meaning ‘superfast’ – while the J appellation translates to  ‘Jota’,  denoting the limited edition  iconic V12 Lamborghini flagship’s track and performance superiority in terms of  handling, performance and driver enjoyment.

Naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is the pinnacle of supercar technologies

“The Aventador SVJ is an innovative car and represents the absolute pinnacle of our super sports car product range,” –  Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO, Stefano Domenicali

Indeed the SVJ suffix of the new Lamborghini Aventador is one earned as the Nürburgring-Nordschleife production car record holder, completing the 20.6 km lap in just 6:44.97 minutes. With a limited production of just 900 units, the new limited edition Aventador is currently one of the more exclusive super cars on the planet.

Rarer still is a special edition Aventador SVJ 63, last seen at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, paying homage to Lamborghini’s founding year of 1963, maximising advantage of its engine through a unique carbon fibre-rich configuration and produced in just 63 limited edition models.

Stefano Domenicali, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer was quick to point out the difficulties in creating what represented the pinnacle of Lamborghini engineering technology,  “The challenge to Lamborghini designers and engineers was to improve the purest essence of the Lamborghini super sports car, drawing on every inspiration from a space ship to a jet fighter: all the most exceptional examples of super-fast, super-athletic, aerodynamic superiority. The Aventador SVJ takes another step into the future, shaping the potential for super sports car development.”

How the New Lamborghini Aventador SVJ performs

The new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ’s Nürburgring-Nordschleife lap record completing the 20.6 km lap in just 6:44.97 minutes emblematic of its benchmark performance made possible with a series production, naturally aspirated V12 engine which features an increase in power to 770 hp (566 kW) at maximum 8,500 rpm. The new Aventador SVJ outputs 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, accelerating from standing to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.6 seconds. All that power at the tip of your toes is matched by a powerful braking distance of 100 km/h to 0 in 30 meters.

With its optimized power plant making it the most powerful series production V12-engined car produced to date by Lamborghini, the SVJ features an increase in power to 770 hp (566 kW) at maximum 8,500 rpm. The SVJ outputs 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, while a dry weight of just 1,525 kg gives the SVJ a weight-to-power ratio of 1.98 kg/hp. The SVJ accelerates from standing to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.6 seconds.  A top speed of more than 350 km/h is complemented by a braking distance of 100 km/h to 0 in 30 meters.

This muscle is further enhanced by the aerodynamic supremacy of the Lamborghini’s latest supercar, the Aventador SVJ is significantly updated in terms of aerodynamism compared to the Aventador S, translating to a significant downforce improvement compared to the previous Aventador SV: +40% on both axles with an improved drag coefficient -1%.

To maintain superior handling characteristics, the front the SVJ is wider than the Aventador S with a new front bumper with integrated side fins featuring a new air intake and the inclusion of Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA), The new Aventador SVJ also features a tri-dimensional air outlet on the hood directs airflow, improves both drag and downforce, and clearly alludes to the aerodynamic purpose of the SVJ’s design. The upper body aerodynamic optimization has contributed 70% to the total downforce improvement in the new SVJ over the older SV.

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ’s rocker is also entirely new, adopting the ‘Y’ theme found in Lamborghini cars while also resembling shapes found in jet fighters. The bigger side air intakes and the new front side fins reduce drag and improve overall cooling. An improved underbody aero design with vortex generators works in conjunction with front diffusers and a new, extreme-design rear diffuser, together with divergent fins, contributes 30% to the total downforce improvement.

The rear wing of the SVJ has been designed for best aerodynamic efficiency, based on a new air foil; an optimized ALA 2.0 system; and side winglets to reduce turbulence while providing high downforce on the straight as well as in high speed corners. Supporting the design improvements are technical amd material improvements as well, weight saving high-mounted naked exhaust systems, carbon fibre rear wings, rear engine bonnets and  super-light ‘Nireo’ aluminum rims are designed specifically for the SVJ, saving weight and contributing to the extreme dynamism of the groundbreaking  naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.
