Billionaire lists James island for $75 million

Telecommunications entrepreneur and billionaire Craig McCaw has listed his 780-acre private island off the coast of Vancouver, British Columbia, for $75 million.

James Island is about a mile off the coast of Vancouver Island and has a private Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, sandy beaches, an airstrip and a marina.

This is the first apartment entirely decorated by Hermès and SC Global said it will not be for sale, but to be used only for private engagements.

Dubai’s Princess Tower tallest residential building

Dubai, which already claims the world’s highest building, has set a new record with Princess Tower, which the Guinness World Records website said on Monday was the world’s tallest residential building.

“Princess Tower in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is 413.4 metres (1,356 feet) high and has 101 storeys above ground, dedicated to residential use,” Guinness said.

The smallest US town fetches $900,000 at auction

Billed as the smallest town in America, Buford, Wyoming, was sold at auction Thursday for $900,000 to a Vietnamese national who wants to remain anonymous.

Twenty-five bidders signed up for the auction, held online and on-site, of the town with its three-bedroom house, school, gas station and several other buildings.

Buford’s last inhabitant and the owner of the buildings, Don Sammons, 61, told AFP the package went to a Vietnamese man from Ho Chi Minh City.

Real Madrid football club will spend $1bn to build a lavish resort island in the United Arab Emirates, complete with luxury hotels, marina and amusement park.

Executives unveiled plans for the “Real Madrid Resort Island”, featuring an oceanside stadium and hi-tech club museum in the northern Emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, on the doorstep of the lucrative football-mad Asian market.

“Real Madrid Resort Island will be a major tourist and sporting centre of great dimensions and the highest level,” club president Florentino Perez said.
