The latest collection by Atelier Swarovski is what you might call “something old and something new.” For the Autumn/Winter 2016 collections, the brand has brought us four new collaborators and their designs along with three designers who have reimagined designs from the Core Collection. From the Swarovski collective prize, winners Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos, to designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, the collection showcases some interesting designs.

Take for instance the collection titled ‘Arbol’. The debut 13-piece collection by Pilotto and de Vos sees a myriad of shapes and colors come together. With patterns such as circles and squares forming the designs, the collection brings together nature and mechanical structures that were inspired by modern art. In a rhodium finish, the collection of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings is accompanied with Swarovski crystals in various colors.

Rosie Assoulin 'Jewel-y McHue-y' for Atelier Swarovski.

Another Swarovski Collective member making her debut with Atelier Swarovski is Rosie Assoulin with ‘Jewel-y McHue-y.’ The designer uses traditional Georgian settings and modern materials to create a bold and understated collection. Each piece, sees the colored crystal matched with a base material of a similar shade. The result is a range of accessories for those who favor something less conventional than a metal frame.

Ye Mingzi 'Elements of the Universe' for Atelier Swarovski.

Asian pride shines through with the next designer, Ye Mingzi. Her third collaboration is available only in the Asia Pacific Region making it one that we would love to get our hands on. Her 10-piece strong ‘Elements of the Universe’, the designs come in a rhodium finish with black diamond colored crystals and a rose gold finish with vintage rose crystals. The 12 symmetrical facets of the dodecahedron shape take center stage in double loop necklaces, drop earrings and men’s cufflinks.

Jean Paul Gaultier 'Reverse' Collection for Atelier Swarovski.

French designer Jean Paul Gaultier visits the concept of perfect imperfection with his ‘Reverse’ collection. The asymmetric styles provide the wearer a chance to that can be switched and reversed according to the moods of the wearer. The crystals in the designs, are an adaptation of the designer’s multi-faceted Kaputt crystal, adding some edge to the glamorous designs.

Finally, we take a look at the three lines that make up the Atelier Swarovski Core Collection. Taking its inspiration from the rivers around the world, the ‘Kalix’ and ‘Moselle’ collections expand the existing range of accessories, while the ‘Nile’ joins the Core Collection this year. Each style, while sharing a similar inspiration, showcases various applications of crystal cuts in contemporary jewelry designs.
