Anndra Neen has scooped the 2011 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize thanks to a unique and luxurious collection.

The jewelry and accessories brand, founded in 2009 by sisters Phoebe and Annette Stephens, picked up the award on Saturday, October 29 during a glitzy ceremony at Los Angeles’s Beverly Hills Hotel.

The Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize aims to promote rising design talent, with this year’s victor Anndra Neen receiving $40,000.

The label’s designers will also showcase their creations at the Dorchester Collection’s prestigious Hotel Plaza Athénée during Paris Fashion Week next year.

Anndra Neen is praised for its original mixed metal pieces, inspired by Phoebe and Annette’s childhood growing up in Mexico.

The pair, now based in the US, came up with the idea to form a jewelry line during a visit to Japan, with travel playing a key role in their creations.

The judges, including Francisco Costa, women’s creative director of Calvin Klein Collection, and Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa, were impressed by the “individuality, luxury, style and craftsmanship” of Anndra Neen’s line.

The jury praised Anndra Neen’s “potential for future commercial success.”

A newcomer to the international awards scene and with headquarters in London, the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize was first awarded last year to ready-to-wear and footwear designer, Thomas Tait.

The London-based creator won £25,000 and the chance to host an event at the Dorchester Collection hotel of his choice. Back in May he presented a selection from his Fall/Winter 2011/2012 line, which was lauded for its original design aesthetic.
