Luxury bed maker, Vi-Spring, has introduced bamboo fibre into its top of the range bed, the Monarch. Known in the textiles industry for its soft and silk-like qualities bamboo fibre is wonderfully indulgent, but is also one of the most environmentally friendly materials available. Bamboo fibre has been woven into an exclusive fabric design for the Monarch mattress ticking, as well as blended for the mattress filling with other luxury materials, such as cashmere, lambswool and mohair.

Mike Meehan, Managing Director at Vi-Spring says: “To achieve the kind of comfort that brings life-changing sleep, we make every effort to source the finest materials to make every Vi-Spring. We believe that our best resources are those that are naturally available to us.”

Because of its special structure and natural hollowness, fabric woven from bamboo is notable for its moisture absorption and ventilation, improving the ability of the mattress to breathe. Its unique anti-allergenic and antibacterial characteristics allow for an altogether healthier night’s sleep. […]

An eco-friendly material, bamboo does not have a negative impact on the environment. It thrives naturally, without the need for pesticides or fertilizers, and is wholly sustainable. Extracted directly from the bamboo cane the production of bamboo fibre involves no chemical processing but is simply steamed or boiled instead.

The Monarch retails at £24,275 ( $50,000) for a six-foot (182 cm) double divan set and is available exclusively at Harrods.
