The W Hong Kong, the first W in Greater China, has been up and running for a couple of weeks, and the hardware looks absolutely spectacular! All 393 guestrooms have stunning Hong Kong skyline views thanks to its prominent location on a small peninsula adjacent to the epicenter of high end Kowloon shopping and entertainment.

The area is right on the commercial waterfront, so instead of luxury yachts you are more likely to look out onto imposingly large freight and cargo ships.

Music and video are a central theme at this hotel, as iPod docks are placed in guestrooms and a live DJ kicks things up a notch in the Living Room. Overall the hotel’s design is pitch-perfect for the W brand – New-York- style interiors with the W signature quirk in the form of butterflies and surprising contemporary art works such as a fiberglass seal holding up a grand piano.

Much of the “WOW” experience will be created by some stunning property amenities. Among the most dreamy are the signature Wet swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi which are perched almost 700 feet above sea level on the rooftop. The pool looks out over the whole island and features an incredible mega-scale mosaic of a butterfly graphic created by Australian designer Fabio Ongarato.

The rooms, designed by Australian interior desiger, Nicholas Graham and Japanese designer, Yasumichi Morita, are comfortable and welcoming. Each designer was assigned a specific floor to design, so each floor has its own personality, countering the cookie-cutter feel of most large hotels.

Located in West Kowloon, the hub of the buzzing financial district of Hong Kong, The hotel is adjacent to the Kowloon Airport Express Station . . . an easy 20 minutes from HKG Airport and the quickest way to get to the city center.

This newest addition to the W Hotels brand is part of the International Commerce Centre (ICC) development, comprised of the Cullilan towers (the Cullilan II tower houses the W Hong Kong) and the ICC Tower (the next tallest building in Greater China to be completed 2010). The Ritz-Carlton has claimed the top floors of the ICC tower and will boast the highest hotel in the world once it moves in.
