Marriott is to open its third Renaissance-branded hotel in Paris : it will be located on Avenue Wagram approximately 300 meters north of the Arc de Triomphe.
The Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel is almost finished construction, and has announced that they will be opening in March, 2009.
The seven floor, 188 room hotel, designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc, is characterized by undulating horizontal glazed bands, which accommodate the rooms’ bow windows to maximize views of the area.
Each room of the hotel is a detached small independent house with one, or sometimes two of the walls constructed in glass. The landscape in which these rooms are placed is by most people considered spectacularly beautiful and varied and the topography allows a layout where no room looks at another.
In this way every room gets its own surprising view of a dramatic piece of landscape, always changing with the weather and the time of the day and the season.
Rotana Hotels has signed an agreement with Summit Hotels to manage a 5-star property in Baghdad, Iraq, scheduled to open in early 2012.
The hotel, the first in Iraq for the luxury brand, is located within the International Green Zone, which is the heavily guarded diplomatic/government area in central Baghdad.
It will feature 250 rooms and suites, Club Rotana Executive floors, several restaurants and bars, banqueting and conference facilities and complete recreational areas including Bodylines health and fitness club and a swimming pool.
In October 2008, Sweden’s first floating hotel opened alongside the famous restaurant “Salt & Sill”. Situated atop floating pontoons just outside the restaurant, the 46 guestrooms including one suite will overlook the Bohuslän’s outer archipelago.
Salt & Sill is a hotel and meeting place with a cosy, personal atmosphere, and a style characterised by modern Scandinavian simplicity.”
Outside seating rooms are attached, to allow access to the sea. A Jacuzzi room comes with the only master suite available, an alternative viewing pad for the seafront scenery.
