On the style-centric occasion of Fashion’s Night Out, Bottega Veneta has introduced a group of eco-friendly handbags.

These bags, produced using sustainable, vegan materials and environmentally sensitive dyeing and finishing processes, share the understated chic and signature design details of Bottega Veneta’s renowned leather goods.

They are handcrafted by the brand’s artisans in Vicenza to the same exacting standards as all other Bottega Veneta products. Unveiled to the press during the Cruise 2013 presentation in May, these handbags will arrive in store in late fall.

“I decided to make the jersey and paper bags after speaking with customers who wanted sophisticated, handcrafted bags that are non-leather and earth-friendly,” says Creative Director Tomas Maier.

“We are a luxury lifestyle brand known for our handcrafted leather goods—obviously we don’t claim to be vegan. But Bottega Veneta has always worked to limit its environmental footprint, and we like to respond to the needs of our customers. This was an exciting challenge and I’m delighted with the way the collection turned out.”
