Dutch airline KLM has been ranked the No. 1 airline in Europe for its long-haul, in-flight dining program by users of British-based travel booking site Skyscanner.

More than 550 travelers and bloggers voted for their favorite in-flight menu in Skycanner’s second annual European Airline Food Awards released this week.

KLM offers four business-class menus that alternate weekly, economy-class sandwiches made with organic bread and tableware, glassware and cutlery created by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders.

The win comes less than two months after the airline began serving an in-flight menu developed by Michelin-starred Dutch chef Richard Ekkebus, who helms Amber restaurant at five-star Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, which earned its second star under his direction.

From December 1, 2012 to the end of September 2013, World Business Class passengers will dine on dishes like braised venison, or cod with curry in a coconut-lime sauce –- classic French dishes given a minimalist, Asian twist, says the airline.
