Chess is known to be a mind game where each player plans his move and plots strategies against his opponent.
Enter the Thinking Table, an interactive table with a built in chess board with an artificial intelligence program, which thinks and predicts the probable moves the player may be planning. The computer’s thought process gets sketched on the screen as it plays and a map of thousands of possible futures gets illuminated on the board.
The board is both the arena in which the two players act, and a thought space in which their linked choices, deliberations and hostilities are made visible. Chess is a fairy tale of 1001 blunders and that is exactly the thinking machines predict to make the game all the more exciting. The Thinking Table is currently a project in progress and we would love to see it being commercialized.
