According to Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Veronica Lario, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s wife, is seeking 3.5 million euros per month during divorce proceedings.

Berlusconi had rebuffed her demand, and offered a more reasonable 200,000 euros a month (he is ready to go as high as 300,000).

He is also prepared to let her keep her the stunning villa Belvedere at Macherio near Milan where she lives with two of their three children Luigi, 21, and Eleonora, 22, while Barbara, 25, lives in Switzerland.

Mrs Lario filed for divorce in May after it emerged Silvio Berlusconi had attended the 18th birthday party of aspiring showgirl Noemi Letizia, giving her a £5,400 gold and diamond necklace.

She claimed that she was ‘fed up’ of being with a man who ‘associated with minors’.

Berlusconi met Veronica Lario in 1980 when he saw her topless on stage in a play called The Magnificent Cuckold and the couple was married 10 years later.

Berlusconi is said to be worth around 6.5 billion euros and is one of the world richest men: 70th in the world, according to this year’s Forbes magazine.
