Paris haute couture week had to do without Christian Lacroix this past January, but while some are still bemoaning this fact, others are already preparing to cash in on the bankrupt designer’s legend: one of his collections for couture house Jean Patou will be auctioned in Paris this March.

Chayette & Cheval, an auction house for fine arts and antiques, has set the date for March 27-28 — Week-end au Marteau or Weekend at the Auction, which is being organized by the French and British auctioneers to familiarize the public with their sales.

The company will be selling Lacroix’s flamenco-inspired haute couture collection for spring/summer 1987, which consists of 60 color- and quillings-laden dresses, designed for the designer’s then-employer, French couture maître Jean Patou.

In addition, Chayette & Cheval will auction off the private collection of perfume flacons of Jean de Moüy, Jean Patou’s grandnephew, that weekend.
