‘Emergence’ – ART REPUBLIK 20 Explores Art’s Newest Arrivals

ART REPUBLIK 20 presents the ever-changing and growing global art scene

Nov 13, 2018 | By Art Republik

In this ‘Emergence’ issue, ART REPUBLIK considers the rise of emerging artists in Asia and across the globe, as well as the emergence of changes in the art market landscape. The issue is out now.

‘Emergence’ is the first ART REPUBLIK issue under Managing Editor Robbie Wilson. It explores not only new artists, but also emerging trends from cryptocurrencies to destruction adding value to art, and as to whether or not they’ll stick around.

ART REPUBLIK checks out the latest exhibitions, fairs and competitions, as well as introducing readers to some just around the corner. Locally this issue explores the upcoming Affordable Art Fair in Singapore, speaks to the winners of the UOB Painting of the Year Award, checks in with Art Stage which is just over the horizon, and examines how an American shook up the STPI Gallery. Overseas, India got a taste of Japanese art, Galerie Karsten Greve and Galeries Bartoux in Paris have exciting exhibitions this autumn, Singapore culture spreads to Yangon, and The Rolling Stones rock Sydney.

This issue shines a spotlight on photography and film, as Erwin Olaf captures a city’s emotions through the lens. In Hong Kong, Edith Ho’s Gallery des Artistes customises a Riva yacht with contemporary art. While in the US, the Pérez Art Museum Miami has a special exhibition showing a collection of photographs of ‘Surrounded Islands’ which put the city on the map in the art world.

“For this issue, we really wanted to give the reader a full picture on emerging themes in the art world,” says Robbie Wilson, Managing Editor of ART REPUBLIK. “There are a lot of new and exciting artists, events, and trends currently shaping the community.”

“Promoting local and regional talents has been the mission of Art Republik from the very beginning,” Ceo of Heart Media, Olivier Burlot emphasises, “we are so happy to be presenting, once again, as an unparalleled source of inspiration for the vibrant art scene in Asia.”

ART REPUBLIK 20 will be presented at the Affordable Art Fair Singapore as its official media partner. You can also catch us at our other partner events, including ART STAGE and ART Paris.
