ART REPUBLIK rolls out its latest issue: “Takashi Kuribayashi for Hermès”. Another milestone is upon us: ART REPUBLIK is now three-years-old! For this issue, we’ve collaborated with Hermès Singapore for our front cover, shinning the cover spotlight on Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Kuribayashi, who tells us about his new project with Hermès Singapore and his obsession with nature and borders.

It is also that time of the year again for the arts in Singapore: Art Stage Singapore 2017 and Singapore Art Week 2017 (#saw2017) is upon us. Alongside, ART REPUBLIK has accompanying features including stepping into the Upside Down with Ruben Pang; veteran Singapore artist Amanda Heng does new work with STPI; we talk everything film with SGIFF’s Zhang Wenjie; art doesn’t get more personal and beautiful when conveyed through the performances of well-respected Indonesian artist Melati Suryodarmo; Art Stage Singapore repositions itself as a marketplace for ideas and discussion – with an art fair; we look at legal and implied rights should you discover you own a piece of fake art; and our 72-hour guide is back with a special double feature on Singapore (just in time for #saw2017) and Seoul.

For this 2017 edition of Art Stage Singapore, we are once again a preferred partner and we will be at the fair with a special edition booth at the foyer instead of the usual magazine sector, so remember to stop by and pick up a copy of our new issue as you enter or as you exit. Additionally, we will be co-hosting the Art Stage Singapore Vernissage After-Party this year. Held at White Rabbit at Dempsey, the party will feature food, drinks and live music. Party is by invite-only and tickets will be available for pick up at our ART REPUBLIK booth during the vernissage.

This issue also marks a change in editorship for ART REPUBLIK. Issue 13 is the final issue that will be helmed by Marc Wong. Replacing him as incoming managing editor will be Nadya Wang, who has been ART REPUBLIK’s editor-at-large for two years now.

“It’s been an incredible journey, from being part of the inception team and creating a new magazine from scratch, to working with incredible writers from all over the world and building treasured relationships that have dispensed invaluable advice and helped guide me in navigating the vast ocean of both danger and wonder that is the art world,” says Marc Wong, exiting Managing Editor of ART REPUBLIK. “It is also a great honour to be a valued partner of Art Stage Singapore and to be able to constantly find new and bigger ways to collaborate together. The art world is as exciting as it is tough, and it is important to have all the big players all work together.”

Mr. Olivier Burlot, CEO & Publisher at Heart Media, comments: “The team at ART REPUBLIK remains resolute in our mission to promote the rapidly developing art scene around Asia. Issue 13 of ART REPUBLIK continues to demonstrate just that, featuring the largest number of art galleries in a single issue to date. In the coming months, readers can expect to be able to look to ART REPUBLIK for the latest highlights from all the major fairs in the region, including ART JAKARTA, and the spring edition of the Affordable Art Fair in Singapore which will see the debut AAFter Glow Evening hosted by ART REPUBLIK. ”

ART REPUBLIK is an official media partner of ART STAGE SINGAPORE, AFFORDABLE ART FAIR, ART BASEL HONG KONG, ART CENTRAL HONG KONG, ART PARIS, ART STAGE JAKARTA, and ART TAIPEI.
