The master of the art is the great Roja Dove, who, from his haut parfumerie on the fifth floor of Harrods in London, will give you a masterclass in the art of structuring a fragrance. But it doesn’t come cheap… Something like £20,000 ($40,000) a time.

There are, happily, other “less expensive” ways of doing it“ : for £2500 ($5,000) you can now have your own personal fragrance developed by Floris, sometimes presented as the oldest existing perfume house in the world as it was founded in 1730.

It starts with a consultation to determine your preferred perfume profile, then, the Floris perfumer will create a natural fragrance that epitomises your character and lifestyle. The process actually takes 5 consultations and 3 months to complete.

The bespoke perfume comes in an antique crystal bottle from Floris’s own collection, filled with 100ml of your very own scent and the right to five refills. They are all complex perfumes made the way they were in the 18th century, carefully structured and balanced, made from fine essential oils and floral essences.
