Crevasse fields, mountain ranges and thousands of miles of uninhabitable ice - Antarctica is the harshest place on earth.
Planning an expedition to the uninhabitable continent soon? Then you’d better use this pretty cool Concept Ice Vehicle.
This latest ice automobile from Lotus was invented to be taken to Antarctica on the Moon Regan TransAntarctic Expedition. Intending to aid the research going on in the region, it is well-built to withstand the severity of polar environment.
The CIV is powered by biofuel. Featuring three skids, this propeller-driven vehicle is 4.5 meters long and 4.5 meters wide with an independent suspension all around.
It also has an ice penetrating radar to detect crevasses and is light enough for a man to pull it across difficult terrain. It also appears to have a spiked “foot” under the cockpit, perhaps for stopping the thing in a hurry on icy terrain.
Enjoy a ride and send us pictures of your holidays in Antarctica !
