The much waited sculpture of model Kate Moss has finally been revealed at the British Museum, in London. We have mentioned in our previous post about this 50kg (110 pound) solid gold statue, entitled Siren, would go on display in October.
Now this sculpture has been unveiled at the Museum in the exhibition Statuephilia. The museum describes Marc Quinn’s work as an “Aphrodite of our times” and the statue proudly sits alongside the statues of famous Greek beauties. It seems that sculptor Marc Quinn likes these provocative poses, for he did something similar with the Sphinx…
Valued at a whopping $2.8 million, this is the largest statue in gold since the Egyptian era.
