Karl Lagerfeld to make over Monaco’s Hotel Métropole

Karl Lagerfeld has been tapped to redesign portions of the famed Hotel Métropole in Monte Carlo. The architectural project is scheduled to debut this summer.

The collaboration between Lagerfeld and the Leading Spas of the World property comprises a makeover of the hotel’s outdoor premises, including the pool, terrace and gardens, along with a new, third Joel Robuchon restaurant.

Her H&M accessories line will hit some 140 stores worldwide and online October 4, comprising jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, bags and a trolley.

Munch Scream

The only privately owned version of Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” set a world record Wednesday when it sold for $119.9 million at Sotheby’s in New York.

Heated competition between seven bidders took the price to the highest for a work of art at auction in just 12 minutes, sparking applause.

The previous record was held by Picasso’s Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust which sold in 2010 for $106.5 million.

Mercedes-Benz‘s plans to regain its historical position as the world’s most popular premium automaker could be paying off, research from Germany has suggested.

The famous tri-star brand was the world’s best-loved luxury automaker until 2005, when it lost the title to rival BMW, which has held it since.

In 2011, it suffered another blow when it slipped behind Audi into third place, selling 1.26 million vehicles compared to 1.3 million for Audi and 1.38 million for BMW.
