Jaguar has introduced a subtle update to its famous Leaper logo, which now sports a shiny metallic finish as well as the Jaguar name situated below it.

The typeface used also features a shiny finish and is similar to the style used for the badges on Jaguar’s cars like the XF and XJ.

The revamp is part of Jaguar’s “Alive” campaign, which kicked off last month on Facebook and a new commercial that aired on YouTube.

A vintage, luxury Jaguar has been re-purposed by Dutch design firm Denieuwegeneratie so that it could serve as a stylish bookshelf in a living room.

The Jaguar Bookshelf was specifically designed for a Dutch Mountain house, an eco-friendly house built halfway into a hill, with a jutting roof that creates a mini-mountain.

Hong Kong Airlines all Club Class

Hong Kong Airlines has launched its all business-class service between HK and London, another stage in the revival of a type of travel many thought would die out.

The new all-premium plane touched down at London Gatwick March 8, adding a new type of service to a route already well-served by the likes of Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Qantas and Air New Zealand.

Fisker is facing yet more embarrassing publicity surrounding its Karma plug-in hybrid, after a test model broke down while being tested by Consumer Reports.

The consumer publication released a YouTube video this week purporting to show that the Karma, which sells for over $100,000, had broken down in its driveway.

In the video, Consumer Reports’ Tom Mutchler claims that the car wouldn’t move into gear and wouldn’t move, before a dealer arrivers to pick up the model.

Legendary designer Philippe Starck has created an electric vehicle, which is on display this week at the Geneva Auto Show and will retail for about $40,000.

The pared-down design of the V+ Volteis by Starck—it resembles a golf cart more than a car that could withstand urban use—seems to prioritize form over function.

Weighing around 1600 pounds, the front-wheel-drive vehicle is propelled by a 4-kW motor for a top speed of 40 mph and a quoted maximum range of 37 miles.

Urwerk’s latest version of the UR-110 Torpedo is the UR-110 ST. It has a steel front plate engraved with horizontal grooves and coated in black AlTiN, coupled with striking yellow numerals and indices.

The time is shown on the right side of the watch. Three hour satellites follow a vertically arced line, graded from 0 to 60 minutes, in a downward motion.

Planetary gearing keeps the satellites and their arrow-shaped “torpedoes” in parallel formation as they take turns to indicate the time as they pass the 60-minute track.

The French creator has been named the beverage’s European creative director and is appearing in a series of short films for the brand.

As well as signing on to design bottles and cans, Gaultier will also have input on online content and retail concepts for 2012.

Maîtres du Temps is an independent watchmaker founded by American watch entrepreneur Steven Holtzmann. Each of its watches, the Chapters, is created in collaboration with several independent watchmakers.

The series II comprises Phantom Saloon, Phantom Drophead Coupe and Phantom Coupe featuring enhanced design, drivetrain and technology.

The Phantom II features “significant improvements in design, drive-train and technology,” Rolls-Royce says.

Hublot 5-million-dollar watch

The world’s biggest watch event opens to the public Thursday in Basel, Switzerland, on the back of a bumper year thanks to Asian demand for luxury timepieces.

Hublot, a subsidiary of French luxury goods group LVMH, will use the high-profile event to unveil “The $5 million” a watch comprising no less than 1,282 diamonds.

“This is the most precious watch ever created by Hublot and its long-standing partner, Atelier Bunter in Geneva,” said Hublot.

Hedi Slimane, a former designer for Dior Homme is to take over as creative director at Yves Saint Laurent, YSL and its parent company PPR confirmed on Wednesday.

Slimane is “named creative and image director” and “will take on artistic responsibility for the brand and all the collections.

In parallel with his new job, he will continue his career as a photographer, a joint statement said. The announcement came on the last day of Paris Fashion Week.
