Hotel prices in London could triple this summer during the Olympic Games, as thousands of competitors, officials and spectators flood the city during the event.

The average cost of a London hotel room during the games will be £213 (€256) a night, 102 percent up on the same period the year before, Hotels.com found.

A painting by Pop Art king Andy Warhol depicting rock ‘n’ roll king Elvis Presley as a cowboy gunslinger is expected to fetch $30-$50 million when it goes on sale in May.

“Double Elvis,” executed in black and silvery white in 1963, “is a seminal piece from the iconic series devoted to the singer,” Sotheby’s said. The painting “epitomizes the artist’s obsessions with fame, stardom and the public image.”

Fire destroys luxury cars in Place Vendome

The wealthiest square in Paris was evacuated last Thursday after a huge fire broke out underneath the French capital’s Ritz hotel.

Dozens of people were treated for smoke inhalation and at least 15 luxury cars were destroyed in the blaze in a five-storey underground car park in Place Vendome.

France’s Ministry of Justice was among buildings evacuated, along with numerous jewellery and designer fashion shops.

Swiss hotel chain Swissotel chain is to offer fitness equipment in guest rooms in its hotels around the world.

The chain announced March 12 that as part of its new ‘Vitality’ program being rolled out this year, guests will have the opportunity to order gym equipment to be set up in their rooms, complete with instructions.

Equipment options for healthy travelers include a Swiss ball, Aero Step, yoga mats, Thera-Bands, or Pilates rings, Swissotel said.

Hong Kong is now the most expensive place to take office space, according to the latest figures from Knight Frank.

Hong Kong’s prime office space, which includes the city’s bustling Central district, was renting for as much as a monthly HK$1,046 (US$135) per square meter last year, a growth of 28%.

By contrast, growth in London’s spiffy West End – formerly the world’s most expensive – slowed last year after a rapid 31% climb in 2010.

The facelifted Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II wasn’t the only new model launched by Rolls-Royce at this week’s Geneva Motor Show. Rolls-Royce also used the Swiss event to unveil a new two-tone color option for the Ghost.

Until now, Ghost customers could only customise their car’s paintwork by optioning the Silver Satin bonnet finish, which only continues up to the A-pillars and windscreen surround. The new option extends the contrast theme to roof, rear pillars and boot lid.

The particular car used at Geneva (pictured below) to preview the option was finished in Infinity Black, with a Cassiopeia Silver upper two-tone.
