Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld will be global guest editor for Metro International newspapers this February.

He will spend one day working in the paper’s Paris newsroom for the Feb. 7 issue, with coverage to run in 22 countries across Europe, America and Asia.

Entitled “The World According to Karl,” the edition will feature illustrations and commentaries from the creator and will launch the paper’s coverage of the New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks.

Giorgio Armani has opened his flagship Armani hotel in Milan, a joint venture with the Dubai developer Emaar Properties.

Located in the 1937 building that also houses Armani’s Manzoni 31 flagship, the hotel covers 162,000 square feet over floors two to eight.

The “palazzo” hotel, which is in the centre of the Italian city, boasts 95 rooms with a focus on “luxury, calm and beauty”.

Jennifer Lopez is featured in the Italian automaker’s first commercial for the all-new 2012 Fiat 500 by Gucci.

The commercial, titled “Elegance,” is voiced-over by Lopez and highlights the Fiat 500 by Gucci limited edition, as Lopez drives through the streets of New York City.

The commercial parallels Chrysler Group LLC’s “Imported from Detroit” campaign, and is the third television ad Fiat has released starring Lopez.

Samsung has renewed its partnership with fashion brand Hugo Boss – first seen in the Samsung F480 – with the launch of a new Hugo Boss Samsung Galaxy Ace.

The phone features an overall matter black finish and the back of the device features a specially treated and textured pattern.

The user interface has been customised and the device features special edition wallpapers and screensavers along with the whole altered look of the user interface.

The illy Art Collection was first started in 1992, stemming from the idea that art can enter the lives of people through a small object of daily use.

After more than 70 series of collectors’ cups were decorated by major international artists and young talents, in 2006 the Collection was extended to coffee cans: exclusive limited-edition works of art released twice a year.

The second decoration this year was created by Alioum Moussa. Moussa is an eclectic and multidisciplinary artist from Cameroon.

Porsche has released the first images of its 911 Carrera Cabriolet ahead of its debut at next year’s North American International Auto Show (January 9-22).

The convertible edition of the 911 Carrera uses a new roof mechanism considerably lighter than predecessors thanks to the use of magnesium in the hood frame.

The mechanism also uses two lightweight fabric-covered plastic panels which should make it stronger and more resistant to wind buffeting at high speeds.

A nearly two million dollar golden Christmas tree has been put on display for the holiday season in Tokyo.

Tokyo’s jewellery store Ginza Tanaka unveiled its 2.4 meters tall Golden Christmas Tree, which is made from 12 kilograms of pure gold, worth 1.95 million US dollars.

It took 15 craftsmen four and a half months to complete the creation. The store says it’s the most expensive Christmas tree they’ve ever created.

Ferrari plans to create one of the world’s most exclusive collector car clubs, according to reports.

The brand is looking to create a new group of its most elite customers who will be offered the best opportunities to get their hands on limited-edition models.

Ferrari plans to open it only to people who possess at least five of the eye-wateringly expensive Italian supercars. That amounts to around 300 people around the world.

A virtual Valentino museum will launch December 5, providing an insight into the world of the Italian fashion house.

Created by Valentino Garavani, who retired from his eponymous fashion house in 2008, and business partner Giancarlo Giammetti, the online museum will focus on 50 years of the fashion house.

Thanks to 3D technology, The Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum will give users the sensation of attending a real museum, featuring more than 300 dresses worn by Hollywood stars of past and present such as Julia Roberts and Sophia Loren.

At £608 a kilo — Long Clawson’s Stilton Gold is bedecked in flecks of gold and is meant to be an extra luxurious addition to cheeseboards for the holiday season.

He came up with the idea after a customer asked him to design something “a bit special” for their front room.

He then sourced a wreck and built a wooden cabinet on wheels to present to his client – although the price of the swanky piece is unknown.

Talk-show host Oprah Winfrey has placed an eight-room, 4,607-square-foot co-op unit inStreeterville up for rent for $15,000 a month.

She reportedly purchased the luxury apartment in the urban-upscale Streeterville neighborhood in 2006 for $5,600,000.

The sixth-floor co-op is one of 13 apartments in a Beaux Arts-style building that was built in 1913 and designed by architect Benjamin Marshall.

Ritz-Carlton to open property in Kyoto

Ritz-Carlton is planning to open its third hotel in Japan in the ancient capital of Kyoto in spring 2014 by rebuilding the Hotel Fujita Kyoto, which closed in January.

The hotel will be built alongside the Kamogawa river, which is one of the most popular walking spots, particularly during the cherry blossom season in the spring.

Strict regulations on the construction of buildings within the metropolis — which remains one of the few low-rise cities in Japan — mean that the hotel will have a maximum of four floors above ground but a further three levels underground.

The company launched the new showroom earlier this month, featuring six models that have previously only been available in China through other dealers.

The Elise R, Elise SC, Evora, Evora IPS, Exige S 240 and the Exige S 260 wlll be on display at the store, which is in Beijing’s fashionable Chaoyang district.
