Mulberry bags New York

Mulberry has opened its largest and third retail location in New York and for the first time will offer its entire collection in-store in the United States.

Mulberry’s third New York location, and its second in the SoHo district, is on Spring Street. The new location is 5,000 square feet and opened Sept. 6.

The space has white pillars, dark reclaimed wood flooring and high tin ceilings, according to a report from Women’s Wear Daily.

Only one Chinese establishment in Paris has ever shined in the Michelin Guide firmament, and then only fleetingly. Modest by comparison, Chen Soleil-Est earned its lone star — literally front page news across France — in 1999 and lost it in 2007.

The store is located in the city’s upmarket Aoyama district and will also be the first directly owned and managed Roberto Cavalli boutique in Asia.

Jaguar has released new details of a hybrid sports model it is working on as a potential successor to the legendary E-Type.

The new C-X16 two-seater uses a new 3.0-liter V6 engine along with a 70kW hybrid motor and is described as an ‘exploration’ of future performance hybrid options.

Using a combination of gasoline and batteries, the C-X16 offers a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) and a 0-100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds, with an electric-only top-speed of 50 mph (80 km/h)

Hermès, the luxury Parisian fashion house, says it cannot produce enough silk scarfs and luxury handbags to meet soaring demand.

The 174-year-old company, regarded as the must luxurious of the super-luxe labels, announced a 50% jump in first-half profits to €291m due to huge demand for its Kelly and Birkin handbags in the US and Japan, despite the economic downturn.

But Patrick Thomas warned investors that the company would not be able to maintain its stellar performance for the rest of the year because it was running out of stock.

Starwood’s Preferred Guest program has topped a list of the ‘best value’ reward programs from US website NextAdvisor.

Preferred Guest, a loyalty program which rewards hotel guests for their stays in Starwood-operated brands such as W Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien and St Regis, offered a worth of $0.021 per point when redeemed for a hotel stay.

It isvconsiderably higher than competing programs such as Marriott Rewards and Hilton HHonors, whose points were worth $0.008 and $0.005 respectively.

A new British car company in the mold of previous greats such as Jaguar and Bentley has released one image of its new model, set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Eterniti Motors, which describes itself as an ‘independent, boutique British luxury carmaker,’ said September 5 that its first model would be the world’s ‘first super-SUV,’ releasing the first image of the roof.

The Eterniti Hemera is said to feature a ‘limousine-like rear cabin’, complete with reclining seats, iPads and a drinks chiller, making it suitable for chauffeur driving.

A 300-bottle collection of Chateau Lafite Rothschild has sold for almost $540,000 in Hong Kong, setting a world record price for a single wine lot auctioned this year.

The collection spanning 1981 to 2005 was knocked down for HK$4.2 million ($539,250) at Christie’s two-day Autumn wine sale.

The record price, below a HK$4.5 million pre-sale estimate, was “the highest value lot achieved at any wine auction worldwide this year,” Christie’s said.
