International hotel chain Marriott has launched a new Facebook game this week which allows fans to run their own virtual hotel, in a bid to entertain bored internet users — and attract new staff for its hotels.

My Marriott Hotel, available on the Marriott fan page, is a virtual hotel which needs to be run in the same way as popular Facebook games such as FarmVille and Cityville, and the latest of a host of games which appeal to the hotel manager in all of us.

Gamers will progressively unlock different areas of their hotel, beginning in the kitchen where they can buy ingredients, hire chefs and kit out the area, as well as building the menu for themselves.

Michael Jackson Thriller Jacket

The iconic black and red jacket worn by Michael Jackson in his “Thriller” video is to go under the hammer at a two-day Music Icons Exhibition in Beverly Hills.

The jacket is among 600 items that will go on sale at Julien’s Auction Gallery, including memorabilia from musicians such as The Beatles, Madonna and Lady Gaga, Frank Sinatra, Elvis and Justin Bieber on June 25 and 26.

The calf leather jacket became the prototype for future costumes for the pop musician. The jacket includes an inscription by Jackson on the inside lining.

As a shopping destination, Hong Kong has over the past decade charted a course towards the very high-end in brands — and it seems retailers are now paying a very expensive price for the trend.

With a 46 percent rise in rents, quarter on quarter, Hong Kong is now second only to New York in terms of what tenants pay for retail locations across the city.

Hong Kong last year surpassed Sydney as the second-most expensive city in the world, with the average cost being paid now hitting US$1,687 per square foot per year according to global commercial property company CB Richard Ellis.

The home of France’s top diplomat in Hong Kong, located in one of the Chinese territory’s glitziest districts, has sold for 74.5 million US dollars.

Buyer Fortune Asset Management snapped up the 19th-century residence in Hong Kong’s Peak neighbourhood as housing prices continue to soar.

“(The sale) is part of a wider government policy to streamline its real estate holdings abroad,” the consulate said, adding that the sale “was a good deal”.

Designed by Creative Director Tomas Maier, the keyring is made from a hand-woven intrecciato nappa leather and will be available in a run of only 1,000 pieces.

It will be on sale in Bottega Veneta boutiques and on bottegaveneta.com, at a retail price of $210 USD. All proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

Audi has opened registration for a limited-edition run of the R8 GT Spyder ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The new soft-top Audi R8 GT Spyder model was unveiled June 3 and will be delivered to just 333 customers worldwide early next year, although customers can register their interest online or at a dealership now and pre-order this summer.

The revamp of the R8 is 85 kg lighter than the Audi R8 V10 Spyder, thanks the removal of the roof and the addition of carbon fibre reinforced polymer body parts.

Emulating the top-notch German cuisine offered by Lufthansa and Air France’s gastronomic offering by Alain Ducasse, Iberia has invited a committee of culinary experts to come up with a new menu to be rolled out for business class passengers.

The chefs include Paco Roncero of Madrid’s La Terraza del Casino, Ramón Freixa, the head of Ramón Freixa Madrid, Caceres chef Toño Pérez of Atrio and Malaga’s Dani García, chef at Calima restaurant in Marbella.

This opening comes as part of a trend that has seen basketball turning increasingly fashionable beyond the usual sneaker endorsements, with the New York Knicks’ Amar’e Stoudemire visiting fashion shows and being featured in US Vogue.

Chef Andy Bates has created the most expensive kebab in the world to mark the launch of The Great Food Truck Race TV show.

The dish has moved on from being a humble doner to include saffron-infused flat bread, milk-fed lamb from the Pyrenees and even edible gold.

The “King of Kebabs” uses gold leaf for a finishing flourish and champagne-infused mint and cucumber yoghurt completes the luxury. It costs a whopping £750 ($1,220).

Sir Richard Branson just set a new record in the British Virgin Islands with his 105-ft. carbon fibre catamaran Necker Belle.

While manning the helm Branson had the distinction of captaining the largest multihull to ever participate in a BVI regatta.

While he didn’t actually win the race, he added one more honorific to his considerable list and got some great advertising for the stylish craft, which charters out at $100,000 per week. Originally built in 2003 it was relaunched in 2009.

British fashion photographer John Rankin created a collection of 100 images to celebrate 100 years of Rolls-Royce, inspired by the Spirit of Ecstasy.

The two photos in this series which have been released, features Rankin’s wife Tuuli Shipster, a model.

He has photographed her in close-up as well as in full-length picture in sensual profile draped in fabric, reminiscent of the original Spirit of Ecstasy.
