Uniqlo 2010 Jil Sander

Jil Sander‘s upcoming fall/winter collection for the Japanese retailer Uniqlo – scheduled for a September release – will mark the end of their collaboration.

Initially launched for fall/winter 2009, the partnership brought the German designer’s minimal creations to the mass market for the first time.

Sander had left her own fashion house, now headed by Belgian designer Raf Simons, when it was bought by Italian luxury company Prada.

Zafirro has launched the world’s most expensive razor, made from iridium and consisting of sapphire blades.

The razors, made from iridium, also have pure platinum screws in addition to sapphire blades, and went on sale this week for a cost of $100,000 per piece.

Iridium is derived from meteorites, and is mainly used by the aerospace industry for components such as rocket engines, where durability is extremely important.

The Beijing government has halted sales of the most expensive luxury apartment complex in the Chinese capital and launched an investigation into the developer for possible “profiteering”.

The high-end penthouse in Beijing’s Haidian district had an asking price of more than 300 million yuan (US$46.2 million), or 300,000 yuan (US$46,300).

Beijing’s housing authorities on 3 June suspended the sale of the unit, along with 22 other units in the Diaoyutai No 7 Complex.

Looking like chicken pox, the dots are giving Helena Bonham Carter a rather sick look, an unusual image for fashion, but quite typical of photographer Juergen Teller who is responsible for Jacobs’s campaigns.

The designer previously released two other images of this upcoming fall/winter campaign, showing the actress in quirky positions and proving once more that Jacobs is not relying on conventional aesthetics to sell his clothes.

Marilyn Monroe Dress

The legendary white dress seen billowing under Marilyn Monroe in an iconic image of 1950s Hollywood has sold at auction for $4.6 million, shattering estimates.

The dress, worn by the star in the 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch,” had been expected to fetch between one and two million dollars.

But the sale Saturday, part of a collection of Hollywood memorabilia held by actress Debbie Reynolds, saw Monroe’s “subway” dress — now cream colored from age — sold for $4.6 million (or $5,520,000, with added fees).

French luxury house Louis Vuitton has released a unique Tambour Diver Chronograph for Only Watch 2011 charity.

It was designed in collaboration with a young boy afflicted with Duchenne muscular dystrophy named Paul Pettavino.

The sporty timepiece is made of black gold, which is white gold that’s been given the old PVD treatment. ‘Only Watch 2011′ is engraved in the back.
