TOP 10 Highest Paid Tennis Players in 2010

Forbes has unveiled a list of highest-paid tennis players in the world. Half of the top 10 are men and the half women.

Roger Federer tops the list with whole year’s income of 43 million U.S. dollars while Russia’s Maria Sharapova follows him with earning of 24.5 million U.S. dollars.

The rankings are based on players’ prize money, endorsements, exhibitions and appearance fees over the past 12 months without taxes or agent’s fees deducted.

Istanbul’s Pera Palace Hotel restored in lavish style

A favourite of royals seeking luxury, writers looking for the muse and undercover spies, Pera Palace — Istanbul’s hotel of mysteries and pomp — has reopened after a major facelift to revive its past grandeur.

Built in the late 19th century for the passengers of the legendary Orient Express, the 115-room hotel has hosted generations of illustrious guests, from King Edward VIII and Queen Elizabeth II of Britain or the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph I, to the likes of Alfred Hitchcock or Greta Garbo.

It was the place where crime writer Agatha Christie crafted “Murder on the Orient Express”, and where Ernest Hemingway is said to have sipped at a whisky, watching the sunlight play on the waters of the Golden Horn.

Veuve Clicquot is giving champagne lovers something new to do with their phones with the launch of the Veuve Clicquot QR Code in Hong Kong.

A quick refresher on QR codes for the uninitiated. QR codes are a very useful tool for pointing people to more information about your product.

You take a photo of the two-dimensional bar code with your phone and you are automatically taken to the web site that is embedded in the code.

Gucci Launches New Online Store

Gucci has announced the opening of its redesigned online store at Gucci.com.

Frida Giannini has been working on the site for 18 months to make the online experience more like the experience customers get in Gucci’s boutiques.

Shoppers can browse the latest collections via video, share content with friends through Facebook and Twitter, and buy online-only capsule collections.

Bonhams to Sell Elvis Presley’s Mercedes-Benz 600

A Mercedes-Benz 600 that was purchased by Elvis Presley in 1970 will be auctioned on December 6 at Bonhams in Weybridge, England.

One of only a handful of cars that Presley registered in his name, the Mercedes-Benz has attracted a pre-sale estimate of £150,000 – 200,000.

Presley kept the car, which was one of two 600 Mercedes he owned, for two years before giving it to a friend, James Leroy Robertson.

Dream Job? Quality Hunters, Finnair Wants You!

It seems almost too good to be true. A job where you get to travel the world and have people listen to what you think of the whole experience.

But that’s exactly what’s being offered by Finland’s flagship airline Finnair.

This month the airline is searching for four “Quality Hunters” to scour the globe and report back on all that’s good — and not so good.

According to a press release issued by the airline, the “Quality Hunters” will travel to cities in Europe, Asia and the US throughout October and November at the same time “assessing flights, airports and destinations.”

Cointreau Privé by Dita Von Teese

Burlesque superstar Dita Von Teese, in collaboration with Cointreau, is planning to open a pop up members only club in Paris’ Montmartre district.

Cointreau Privé is set to open on Dita’s birthday on September 29 , the cabaret performer’s birthday, and stay open for one month.

The club will serve her signature cocktail made of orange liqueur, apple juice, lemon juice, and violet syrup and will be decorated with “lots of Swarovski crystals and feathers,” said Von Teese.

Naomi Campbell is teaming up with Dolce & Gabbanna to create a line of t-shirts that celebrate the supermodel’s 25 years in the fashion.

The t-shirts come in 14 different styles and feature signature images of Campbell shot by various renowned fashion photographers. They will sell for $200 each.

All of the proceeds will go to “Fashion for Relief”, which raises money within the fashion industry to help those in times of need and places in need.

But fans will have to wait as the fashion designer wants to sell his stationery products exclusively at his own store, the Bookmarc Bookstore located in West Village, New York City. The store is scheduled to open in winter 2010.

Mercedes-Benz launches new iPhone app

Mercedes-Benz have released an updated version of its Mbrace app for the iPhone, and 2.0 brings along a new line of location-based services.

That application allows customers to use their phones to unlock their vehicles, locate their vehicles in crowded parking lots, and find nearby or preferred dealers among other services.

Version 2.0 also introduces Mobile Concierge service, the ability to access and save multiple accounts, and enhanced Roadside Assistance.

Ferrari recalls 1,250 cars after some catch fire

Ferrari announced Wednesday it had recalled all versions of its model 458 Italia sports car produced before July 2010 after four of them caught fire.

“Our dealers are going to call clients and tell them to bring back their cars so that the necessary modifications can be carried out,” a spokesman told AFP. The recall involves 1,248 vehicles worldwide, the official said.

Ferrari last week opened an enquiry after four of its vehicles caught fire spontaneously in California, China, France and Switzerland.

Lanvin to team up with H&M

High-street retailer H&M on Thursday announced plans to collaborate with French design label Lanvin.

The collection will be designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver.

This exclusive winter collection will go on sale on November 23rd at 200 H&M stores worldwide

H&M approached us to collaborate, and to see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less,” says Elbaz.

Hollywood’s Best Actors For The Buck

For the second year, Shia LaBeouf, star of the Transformers series, ranks number one on Forbes magazine‘s list of Hollywood’s “Best Actors For The Buck.”

The actors in this annual listing are considered a good investment at the box office for film studios. For each $1 the studio spent on LaBeouf for a film, it received an average of $81 in profits.

The actor has also starred in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the upcoming Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Hugo Boss adopts cheap-brand model

The pricey German fashion group Hugo Boss will use a strategy pioneered by lower-cost brands to get new collections out faster, chief executive Claus-Dietrich Lahrs said in an interview on Tuesday.

“Shortening the times from collection development to production and delivery to the customer is crucial for our future success,” Lahrs told the Finance Times.

Boss sought the “speed and reactivity” of popular European retail chains like Zara and H&M, but would maintain its position as a premium brand, he added.
