Chopard Robbed In Paris By Daring Jewel Thief

Jewellery worth more than 6m euros (£5m, $8m) has been stolen from an exclusive Paris store in broad daylight by a lone gunman, police sources say.

Dressed in a suit and fedora, the man entered Chopard on Place Vendome and reportedly made staff hand over 15 pieces of jewellery at gunpoint.

The heist, which took place in mid-afternoon, came after a gang of armed men stole gems worth 85m euros from jewellers Harry Winston in Paris in December.

Guerlain Heritage Case

For its 180th anniversary in 2008 Guerlain issued a luxurious leather coffret called the Guerlain Heritage Case.

Available now at Selfridges, the Guerlain Heritage Case contains a collection of 18 of the house’s fragrances best representing its perfume history since 1828.

The labels on the bottles are inspired by historic Guerlain labels from the Art Deco period and only 205 copies were made.

Christian Louboutin’s ad campaign by P. Lippmann

Christian Louboutin has entrusted his latest ad campaign to photographer Peter Lippmann, one of the most famous still life photographers.

Each shoe was impeccably interpreted in photos that emulate classic still life pieces from the 18th century.

Multicoloured sweets, exotic fruits, flowery decorations, still life and a pair of Tina boots, a must-have for this summer presented to us in a sinister photograph.

Financial Times – Business Of Luxury Summit 2009

Chaired by the Editor of the Financial Times, Lionel Barber, The FT Business of Luxury Summit will bring together leaders from one of the world’s most successful industries.

This year’s theme is “Beyond Green: Economics, Ethics and Enticement”.

The annual event, now in its fifth year, will be hosted at Monte Carlo’s Salles des Etoiles in June, and will be attended by luxury brands, luxury consultants and brand experts.

Debates are expected to centre around the impact of the economic crisis on the luxury sector and future plans for businesses to become more ethical and environmentally friendly.

Rolls-Royce Celebrates Record 2008 Result

Billionaires may have shed wealth during the global financial meltdown but they’re snapping up models from the world’s most expensive luxury car brand in record numbers.

Despite the million-dollar-plus price tags, Rolls-Royce last year posted its best sales in 18 years, selling 1212 cars globally.

And the BMW-owned British brand could triple sales next year with the arrival of a new model.

Christian Lacroix fashion house near bankruptcy

Another sad story in the fashion industry this morning as one of France’s biggest names announces financial trouble.

Christian Lacroix has reportedly filed for voluntary bankruptcy in an attempt to protect the company from creditors. The current economic crisis and company expansion has been blamed for the situation.

Recent sales of Lacroix’s summer collection are down 35pc, according to French media reports. In April, some large US retailers reduced orders for 2009 Lacroix merchandise.

Burberry Lights Up The New York Skyline

The Manhattan skyline will lose a bit of New York and gain a touch of London in coming months.

Getting ready to light up the New York skyline, a fifty foot Burberry sign is installed on the roof of the new Burberry Americas headquarters at 444 Madison Avenue.

The sign will be illuminated on 28 May – The day declared as the official Burberry Day in New York City by Mayor Bloomberg.

Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amista

Situated in Italy, only 7 km from the centre of Verona, Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà offers a unique and evocative setting with all the characteristics of a classical Venetian-style Villa.

Great Gatsby Rolls-Royce up for Auction

This June 7 Bonham’s will auction off the 1928 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Phantom I Ascot Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton with coachwork by Brewster that starred in the 1974 movie version of The Great Gatsby.

The sale will take place during the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance in Connecticut and the car is expected to fetch anywhere between $150,000 and $200,000.

The car belongs to Massachusetts collector Ted Leonard, who leant it for the film.

Frank Lloyd Wright Lego Architecture Sets

Architect Adam Reed Tucker has collaborated with The LEGO Group and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to release the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection – part of the LEGO Architecture series.

The first sets were released at the opening of the From Within Outward exhibition at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York earlier this month.

Owner of H&M is Buying English Village

The Swedish billionaire Stefan Persson, who is the owner of H&M, is reportedly buying an entire English village and up to 2,000 acres of surrounding countryside for 25 million pounds.

Stefan Persson, who is thought to be the world’s 16th richest man with his wealth valued at £11.4billion, is said to be snapping up all of Linkenholt near Andover, Hampshire.

The price includes a neo-baroque castle, 1,500 acres of land and 425 acres of forest, a cricket field and 21 weekend houses for renting out.

Maltese Falcon Yacht For Sale

The best designed and most expensive sailing yacht, the famous Maltese Falcon has been listed for sale via luxury marketplace JamesList for $130 million.

Maltese Falcon was launched in 2006 by Perini Navi Istanbul and has won many prizes since, including four Showboats International Awards and three World Superyacht Awards.

It is the largest privately-owned sailing yachts in the world at 88 meters (289.1 feet).

ExecuJet South Africa and Bombardier Business Aircraft were joint hosts at the recent 2nd biennial Jets & Jewels celebration at Lanseria International Airport.

ExecuJet’s private jet hangar was transformed into an elegant function venue, where 450 guests and celebrities enjoyed a show of the latest fashion lines from Hugo Boss, Armani and Lacoste.

Specialist banking group, Investec, was another key sponsor. Two Learjet 45s and a Global Express were showcased, alongside two gleaming Maseratis.
