Selfridges limited edition BlackBerry Bold

To commemorate the 100th birthday of the store, Selfridges has commissioned RIM to make a special limited edition Blackberry Bold.

The back of the phone is coloured in Selfridges’ trademark pantone 109 yellow, or bright yellow if you’re not overly familiar with paint mixing colour charts.

Each of the handsets – numbered from one to ten cost a cool £1000 and comes with VIP support.

A Swavroski Cable Car Cabin for Singapore

If you have ever visited Singapore, maybe you have had the chance to see the beautiful local scenery from the sky between Mount Faber and Sentosa, by hopping on one of the cable-cars provided by Mount Faber Jewel Box.

Well, now the tourist attraction won’t be just the breathtaking views, but rather the 68 glittering cable-car cabins that are planned to be released by the second quarter of 2010.

These are part of a $36 million revamp process that will start this year in August and will replace the existing cable-car system.

New Superyacht for Saudi Prince

Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz of the Saudi royal family has a new toy: the 65-meter (213-foot) Nourah of Riyadh, the largest motoryacht built to date in Turkey.

Delivered last Friday, Nourah of Riyadh was built at Yachtley, a shipyard located in the Kocaeli Free Zone, which runs along both the Black Sea and Sea of Marmara.

Nourah of Riyadh reportedly has six guest staterooms, accommodations for 21 crew, a private cinema, two elevators, and of course a helipad. The interior design is by Donald Starkey.

Veuve Clicquot has released a new version of its Ice Jacket, a high-tech isotherm sleeve tailored to the shape of the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label bottle and designed to keep it at the perfect temperature.

Employing thermodynamics to keep the precious bubbly cool, the new Ice Jacket 2 is produced in a high-tech fabric with leather detailing which highlights the vibrant Clicquot Yellow.

The Ice Jacket can maintain the champagne at an optimal tasting temperature for up to two hours.

Cessna suspends Columbus program

Cessna is laying off an additional 2,300 people, extending its summer shutdown, suspending its Citation Columbus program and closing its Bend, Ore., plant, the company said today.

The $27 million Columbus design was billed as the largest, fastest longest-range, most comfortable and most advanced Citation in history.

It was supposed to be ready in 2014 and state and local governments in Kansas had allotted millions in incentives to entice Cessna to build the production plant in the state.

Thai designer reveals dog tiara

A young Thai jewelry designer has crafted a tiara worth $4.2 million for his pet dog, using precious stones given to him by his mother.

Riwin Jirapolsek, who showcased the tiara at a dog show in Bangkok recently, said he wanted to make something special for Kanune, his 15-year-old male Maltese.

He took almost two months to finish the piece, which is made from titanium encrusted with 250-carats of emeralds and diamonds.

Moët Hennessy sales fall by a third

Decanter reports that Moët Hennessy Champagne sales were down 35 percent in the first three months of this year.

The LVMH drinks arm owns many of the biggest brands in the category such as Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart, Mercier and Krug

The company said revenues from its Champagne and still wine business fell 22% in the first quarter to €197m.

Chanel London Madness

Chanel has announced its move into Oxford Street’s Selfridges store with a new counter set to open this July, and to celebrate the occasion the brand will be launching a limited edition line of make-up.

The collection was created by Peter Phillips, global creative director for Chanel Makeup, who took his inspiration from the London scene.

The London Madness Collection includes new, eye-popping red shades of Rouge Allure and Le Vernis, and the highlight, the Pearly Banner Palette – an ivory, gold and silver highlighter stamped with the Union Jack.

Veuve Clicquot DesignBox

This year, during Milan Furniture Fair, Veuve Clicquot is revealing DesignBox – its own exclusive eco-friendly gift box – and showcasing three interpretations of DesignBox by Tom Dixon, Front Design and 5.5 Designers.

These collaborations are being presented as part of an installation called “Out of The Box” at Superstudio+.

These are the latest in a string of collaborations between Veuve Clicquot and some of the best names in the world of design including Andree Putman, Porsche Design Studio, Pablo Reinoso, Christophe Pillet, Karim Rashid, Fredrikson Stallard and Jason Bruges.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Mercedes-Benz has revealed interior images and some design sketches of the new interpretation of the legendary Gullwing of the 1950s: SLS AMG, a V8-powered supercar under development.

It will be launched in spring 2010.

The supercar will feature an aluminium spaceframe and body with gullwing doors, AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid engine developing 420 kW/571 hp and dry sump lubrication, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission in a transaxle configuration and sports suspension with aluminium double wishbones.
